Become a Primary Mentor

Facing Adversity - Resource 5.png
We are looking for Primary Mentors that come from various backgrounds with insightful experiences and stories to share. We see the Primary Mentor as a direct role model that can offer advice and resources to the mentees.
The Requirements

Must be a junior undergraduate - graduate student at an accredited academic institution

Additionally for the Community College Program, one must currently attend or have transferred from the community college where the program will be delivered

The Role
  • Facilitate leadership sessions and talks between mentorship groups from different institutions throughout the academic year

  • Serve as a resource to your mentees

The Reward
  • Practice leadership and communication skills

  • An opportunity to make a direct impact in young women's lives

  • Expand your network globally within academia and industry

  • Highlights in our newsletters, online media, and other marketing materials

Having been someone who has not really had a mentor before, I have loved having to prepare for each session. I feel like I learn just as much as the mentees from the challenges being set. It is also so inspiring to be able to hear the stories of each of the session anchors. - Shazeaa Ishmael

Being a mentor has helped me with my leadership and communication skills, as well as my confidence. I feel like the start definitely felt like a "fake it until you make it" situation, but over time I have felt like I actually belong and am succeeding in the role with the small things, such as having a mentee send me her awesome elevator pitch. - Ella Schotz
